  2. What is CyberCat? • CyberCat is an electronic library catalog that can be accessed through any computer that has Internet access. • CyberCat allows you to search for library materials, like books and e-books, in your school library or in other school libraries in our district.

  3. CyberCat Gatewaywww. http://lms.mysdhc.org/cybercat/ The CyberCat Gateway is one way to start a Search. Click the down arrow to select your school from the drop down menu and then click start.

  4. School Level Search A school level search page allows you to search for books in your school library only.

  5. Begin a Basic Search DOGS Enter a search word in the search box and then select the type of search from the drop down menu.

  6. Select the Type of Search DOGS Click the down arrow to see the drop down menu. Then select the Type of search you want to do. You can search by general keyword, title, author, subject, series or periodical title.

  7. Types of Basic Searches General Keyword – Searches for the word entered Title– Searches for matching book titles. Author– Searches for books by a specific author. Subject – Searches for books on a specific subject Series – Searches for books titles in a series (Example – Harry Potter series) Periodical– Searches for magazine titles.

  8. Click Search ! DOGS Click the Search button to get a list of books on your topic that are located in your school library.

  10. Power Search Click the Power Search button to do a Power Search of your library. Power Searching allows you to narrow your searches to get better results.

  11. Power Search Screen Click the down drop down arrows on the Power Search menus to narrow your searches.

  12. Example Power Search Power Search for a videorecording about cats and dogs.

  13. Power Search Results Power Search results for videorecordings about dogs and cats.

  14. Other Types of Searches There are other ways to search for books in CyberCat. Click on the Reading Program link to search for RC (Reading Counts) books.

  15. Reading Program Search Click the Reading Programs button to select Reading Counts. Enter a search word or phrase in the search box. Then click Show Matching books.

  17. Program Search by Reading Level You can also search for RC books by reading level. Just click the drop down menu to select your reading level. Do not enter a search term. Then click Show Matching Books .

  18. Reading Program Results Search results for a Reading program combined with reading level search. Results show Reading Counts title between 6.9 and 7.1 reading level.

  19. Lexile Reading Level Search DOGS Search for books by Lexile by entering a minimum and maximum Lexile Level. You can also enter a search term if you only want books on a special topic, such as dogs. Then click Show Matching Books.

  21. Cool Links Click the Cool Links on the main search page for a list of cool places to search.

  22. Login to CyberCat To access MY Account, login to CyberCat on the main search page by entering your 7 digit student ID. Then Click the Login to CyberCat button. Next, click the My Account button to see the My Account Menu.

  23. My Account Menu The My Account Menu has two choices: Review My Account or Renew My Materials. Review My Accounts tells you what books are checked out and if there are any fines. Renew My Materials lets you renew your library books online one time.

  24. Review My Account Click on the blue links in Review My Account to see information about books that are checked out, overdue or have fines.

  25. Renew My Materials Click the box of any item you want to renew and then click the Renew Selected Items button. You can also click the Renew All button to renew all your books. You are allowed to renew library books one time for a two week check out period.

  26. Logout of My Account It is important to click the Logout button when you have finished reviewing your account. No one else should be using your CyberCat account.
