Dvs program options adequate funding

DVS Program Options Adequate Funding

  • $15.1 million is an appropriate compensation for States for reporting all vitals to NCHS

  • NCHS will seek additional funding to help States in improving the quality of vital statistics

  • Budget neutral

Dvs program options let s make a deal

DVS Program OptionsLet’s Make a Deal

  • Reduce the content of vitals provided to NCHS

  • Negotiate with States on a reduced amount for VSCP (less than $15.1 million)

  • Use the remaining amount to attract funding from other Federal programs to collect the remaining content i.e. additional items dependent on reimbursable $’s

  • Budget neutral

Option implications

Option Implications

  • Postpone Deaths: CY09 – NDI & linked files incomplete and still a shortfall

  • Postpone Births: CY09 – linked files incomplete and still a $ shortfall

  • Delay Purchase - 2009 data year paid for in 2010

  • Adequate Funding - fine if States agree

  • Let’s Make a Deal - fine if funded by other Federal agencies and States agree
