  3. Observation Hours You are required to complete 45 observation hours. Make the most of them. Use those hours to go and explore different campuses and grade levels. Once you have found a campus that you really like and think you might possiblywant to one day work there, finish your remaining hours on that campus and begin meeting the staff and administrators.

Substituting Not only is substituting a great way getting some much needed experience in the classroom but it is also a way to start making those much needed connections with the school/isd of your choosing. Any principal will tell you they would much rather hire a familiar face then just some name on an application. So get out there a start meeting your potential employers. FYI when you are on a campus treat everyday like your being interviewed!!

Substituting cont. • To start subbing go to the VISD website • Click on the Human Services link • Then click on Contact Information and find the message below: • Potential Applicants:Thank you for your interest in VISD. We strongly encourage all applicants to use our online application process when seeking employment in our district. Please DO NOT email letters of intent to the Human Resources Office if you have not completed an application. • Once you have filled out an application you can register with SubFinder to view potential subbing jobs. • Click on the SubFinderlink • There you will have access to: • Substitute Handbook • Frequently Asked Questions • SubFinder Guide- This will assist you on how to register.

UHV Staff • Your teachers, professorsand advisors here at UHV are some of the greatest tools you have to help you through the program. • Anna Laura Pineda- 361.570.4264 certification analysts • They are all human and have been in your exact seat. So don't be afraid to speak with them if your are having trouble or needing advise.

  7. Working for an ISD There are many jobs available at the ISD's that will not only give you experience but get your foot in the door. http://www.visd.com/jobs/index.asp
