Objectives District team members will • use a broad definition of calibration to reflect on opportunities for consistency and collaboration across the 5-Step Cycle • learn about the strategies and resources that presenters used to address issues of calibration in their districts • develop some next steps to support district calibration work in 2014-15

  3. Agenda

  4. What is Calibration? Ongoing, frequent collaboration that brings a group of people to a common understanding that helps to ensure consistency and fairness.

  5. Consistency and Collaboration • What does “proficient practice” look like? • What elements of effective teaching practice are prioritized during observations? • How is evidence collected and shared? • How are artifacts connected to goals and standards? • How do evaluators provide high quality feedback to teachers? • How are formative and summative evaluations written?

  6. Learn from Others • Team members will each attend different ”mini-presentations” • 10 minutes: Learn about the process and strategies these districts are using • 10 minutes: Open Q&A time • Use the packet of one page summaries and the graphic organizer to make notes on each presentation to share with other team members

  11. Team Time • As a team, use the graphic organizer to share ideas from the presentations and to develop a plan The goal is for your team to leave today with a simple, actionable plan for the calibration work in a specific area of need for your district.
