  2. Sor Juana’s Life Sor Juana was born on November 12, 1651 in San Miguel Neplantla, Mexico. Sor Juana died while nursing infected sister nuns during an epidemic, She died April 17, 1695.

  3. CHiLDHOOD! Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz was a childhood genius! When this young lady was only 3 years old she was already able to read and write! WOW!

  4. More Childhood Facts! Sor Juana was raised as a child by her mother. She had two older sisters, and three younger half-siblings. These children were raised on their grandfathers plantation! This plantation was located right outside of the wonderful, Mexico City.

  5. What was she Known for?? Sor Juana was a very intelligent person, and she was known for her talent in literature.

  6. Gaining Popularity! Sor Juana started gaining popularity around the year of 1669. During this time, she entered the Covent of the Orders of St. Jerome! Sor Juana was involved in this Covent until the time of her death.

  7. Religion! At the age of 16, Sor Juana decided to take a veil and become a Catholic. She later left this religion due to sickness&&returned back on February 4th, 1669. She stayed with this religion until she passed away in 1695.

  8. What is Sor Juana known For Today? Sor Juana is known today for all the poems she has written. Some of these poems include Arraignment of the Men, My Divine Lysis, My Lady, Phyllis, and You Men.
