  1. HOW DOES CEILING INSULATION WORK?

  2. Ceiling or Roof insulation is one of the easiest ways to reduce heat lost in your home and save energy. But, do you know how it works? No, then lets find it out. The most common types of insulation are blanket insulation and loose fill insulation. Ceiling insulation is made of fluffy fibrous materials, that are good at trapping air in it. This air, is a rally bad conductor, and so reduces the amount of conduction going on. Since the air is essentially trapped, there is little opportunity for it to move, and so there is little convection going on. That is how insulation works. Heat moves through a roof in three ways. Each has a different impact on building performance and the options available to control it. Conduction It occurs within solid materials and between solid materials in physical contact. This is the most intuitive path of heat transfer. Convection It occurs within gases and liquids as a combined result of heat conduction within the gas or liquid and the movement of these substances. For insulation, that means air gaps, entrapped or latent moisture and wind uplift/negative pressure. Radiation It occurs independently of solids, gases and liquids, such as when sunlight heats a roof or heat radiates outward from a building at night.

  3. Quality insulation is best installed during the initial construction of a home or building. However, adding insulation to existing structures can be done without a problem. The cost and effectiveness depend on a few factors. If you are thinking of roof insulation for your home or office or any building, don't go further then Affordable Insulation.
