  2. Why is it important? • Technology can lead to life changing event, such as the Internet was for many. • It is important that we begin using sustainable and transparent technologies. • So that out basic human freedoms are strengthened by technology and not hampered.

  3. Stellarium • A planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just as you would see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope. • Has constellation art.

  4. GraphCalc • A calculator to use for a variety of purposes including the production of: • 2D • and 3D Euclidean • and Polar graphs

  5. Neverball • Miniature golf and an obstacle course game.

  6. OpenOffice.org • A full featured suite of tools for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and database management. • Compatible with and a free replacement for Microsoft Office.

  7. GIMP • An image manipulation program with advanced photo retouching techniques. • Similar features to Adobe PhotoShop

  8. LiveCD: File Recovery • There are Operating Systems that can load directly off a storage device such as a CD. • The Operating System doesn’t require installation to your computer (hard drive) but still allows for the Operating System to be fully functional.
