  1. Radioactive waste GEnerated during consolidation works WG TDC2/TCC2 18th June 2013 E. HARROUCH EN/MEF

  2. Radioactive waste GEnerated during consolidation works • Elimination pathways *Free Release : Elimination pathway in Switzerland which allows waste whose radiological levels are under the activity limits defined in the ORaP (Ordonnancesur la Radioprotection) to be eliminated as conventional (restrictions in terms of radiological activity, contamination, dose rate). For the TDC2/TCC2, it should concern mostly the items coming from the access shaft and tunnel. *TFA - TresFaibleActivitee : Elimination pathway in France for radioactive waste whose activity levels are (in principle) above the limits for Free Release but under the radiological limits defined by French law. The waste will be finally stored in the CSTFA (Centre de Stockage des déchets de TrèsFaibleActivité), final repository managed by the ANDRA (Agencenationale pour la gestion des déchetsradioactifs). For the TDC2/TCC2, it should concern any item in the tunnel not located in a beam loss area. *FMA - Faible et MoyenneActivitee : Elimination pathway both in France and in Switzerland, for waste whose activity levels are higher than the limits for TFA. The waste will be either stored in the CSFMA (Centre de Stockage des déchets de Faible et MoyenneActivité) in France, which is also a final repository managed by the ANDRA, or it will be sent to the temporary storage in PSI (Paul Scherrer Institute) in Switzerland. For the TDC2/TCC2, it should concern the items located in beam losses areas (splitters, collimators, targets, XTAX). Be aware that the following classification is done according of the experience of RP in the area. The final conditionning of the waste (or material) could change after measurement on-site. E.
