Abstruse • Difficult to understand and obscure. • Math can be abstruse. It is complicated to understand for some.
Absurd • Being senseless, illogical, or untrue. • This problem is absurd because it is not possible for 2+2=blue.
Bedlam • A scene or state of wild uproar and confusion. • Cheyenne created a state of bedlam when she teared up the sheet of paper. It was wild because I had to clean up the mess.
Belie • To show to be false or contradict. • Cheyenne was acting crazy. I had to tell her that she was being wrong.
Cacophony • A mixture of meaningless and discordant sounds. • One Direction was on Ellen. I had to turn it off because it was a pointless song they were singing.
Callous • Showing or having a cruel disregard for others. • I was being rude to Cheyenne and hitting her with a spoon.
Debilitate • To make weak or feeble. • I put my hands over Cheyenne’s muzzle. She became weaker because she was not able to bite me.
Debutante • A young women making her debut in society. • This is me stepping out and being fabulous. :D
Decorum • The regal property of behavior, speech, dress, etc. • I am wearing a crown, which makes me very regal looking.
Edifice • Any large complex system or organization. • This is a picture of a building.
Iconoclast • Religions and different religious beliefs are attacked and criticized all the time throughout life.
Magnanimous • Holy figures are magnanimous because they are charitable, forgiving, and kind. The do not stoop down to low levels and remain just.
Ignominious • This movie represents this word because the main character is similar to Hester Prynne and is known for shameful actions and is then out-casted by her peers at her school.
Gamut • This picture of musical scales shows the separate notes that make up the whole entire scale.
Fabricate • This blanket was handmade and designed by someone in my family. It is not easy to crochet designs and words and it takes a lot of skill.
Eclectic • Furniture is an example of being eclectic because all the furniture in one room may not be from the same place or not be the same style of the other objects in the room.
Nadir • Raising Helen is an example of this word because in the movie the parents of the nieces and nephew of Helen die in a car accident. Helen mourns the loss of her family members and takes on raising three kids as a single mom.
Hamper • In this movie, the daughter’s dream of singing is being hindered by her parents fears. They attempt to hold her back so she can stay with them and so that they know that she is safe.
Obliterate • This movie is a good example because King Kong destroys the cities that he goes to and is a very destructive animal.
Labyrinth • The pattern on a checkerboard is hard to get around and very mind-boggling.
