  1. What is Mentoring "Mentoring is to support and encourage people to manage their own learning in order that they may maximise their potential, develop their skills, improve their performance and become the person they want to be."

  2. What do we do? How long does it last for? • Build a positive relationship by getting to know one other…what your hobbies are, what you are good at. • Talk about any issues you might have at school and at home…find solutions • Work through different activities that’s support your development…Controlling your emotions, self esteem and target setting. • You have initially 6-8 mentoring sessions and then it is reviewed. • I will see you either every week or once a fortnight.

  3. What we need to agree on STUDENT FRIENDLY MENTORING CONTRACT…BELOW ARE SOME KEY WORDS THAT WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THE MENTORING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE MENTOR AND THE MENTEE. • Punctual • Listen • Agree targets • Trust • Support/help Work as a team

  6. Relationship Rings Example Work with you mentor to make your own relationship rings. This activity helps you to recognise all the important people in your life. Cousins Priest Grandparents Brother and sister Best friend mat and tom People from work Football manager me Mum and dad Other friends Aunties and uncles Doctor

Getting to know each other • Discuss three things you like about your self • What is your favourite lesson? • What are your hobbies? • What is your favourite TV programme? • Is there anything new you would like to try? • What good things might your friends say about you? • tell me about your family? • How do you travel to school? • What is the one thing you would change about yourself?
