  2. Types of Unicorn Reports • Housekeeping • Notices • Import/Export • Counts • Lists/Bibliographies

  3. Housekeeping (Admin) • adutext- indexes any changes to records since last run. Run nightly • rebuildauth- rebuilds authority index from authority dB • rebldthesauri- breaks all SEE and SEE ALSO relationships so that they can be rebuilt by • correcthesauri- builds relationships between 4xx and 5xx of NAR/SAR

  4. Housekeeping (MCD) • dupcallnums- lists items with duplicate call numbers • dupflexkeys- lists title records with same title control number • indcheck- lists entries with bad non-filing indicators • duptitles- lists duplicate titles with pub date & flexkey • globaledit- allows one to edit every record in database meeting criteria

  5. Notices • Holds • Overdues • Fines • Lost/Missing Run regularly by Circulation staff, usually in the morning

  6. Import/Export • MARC Import • bibload/bibloadbatch • loadauthimp/loadauthbatch • MARC Export • prepmarcexp

  7. Counts • Reports end with …cnt • These run very quickly! • Output is short report with search parameters and number of items identified • Remember, if you are counting only titles, you can do it w/o reports!

  8. Lists/Bibliographies • End with …list • These take much longer to run • Output is search parameters plus formatted records/items • Most use record characteristics • Only bibliography, entrylist allow keyword search

  9. Report basics • From New Report, select a report to run (either from template or canned) • Set report parameters (what you want to retrieve) • Save report or “Run Now” • Use report scheduler status icon to watch your report run • Go to Finished Reports to see outcome!

  10. Report Safety • If you are running a report that is running very long and you want to kill it, call Dawn! • If you are running a report that changes data, do a dry run first in sirsidev • Multiple reports can now run, but don’t run a huge report during work hours; rather schedule it for night

  11. >> API << • Must have Sirsi/Dynix intensive training course • Goes under the application layer to make changes • Only way to mass edit holdings (MFHD) records

  12. Help on the Web! • Unicorn report functionality matrix • Unicorn batch loads

  13. Thanks for listening! (or not!)
