Secure Mental Health Service Hospitals • High Secure environment delivered by a Specialist Forensic Team aimed at providing a level suitable for public protection • Special Authority Commissioned Special Hospitals e.g. Broadmoor • Delivered by a Specialist Forensic Team aimed at providing a level suitable for public protection • Usually following a court appearance or part of rehabilitation step down from special hospitals • PCT Commissioned (BHFT) Medium Secure e.g. MSU Oxford • Delivered by a Specialist Forensic Team aimed at people presenting with behavior at a level of risk greater than general mental health services could safely address • PCT Commissioned (BHFT) Low Secure e.g. Thornford Park

Routes into Secure Services • Forensic Referrals • Court • Probation • Prisons • Court • Community Forensic Teams Special Hospitals Medium Secure Forensic Team Assessment Low Secure • Non Forensic Referrals • Local Inpatient Services • Local Community Services • Local Learning Disability Services

Discharge Arrangements • Usually Forensic Psychiatrist occasionally Local Psychiatrist • Manage patient within the terms and conditions of their conditional discharge • Provides reports to Case Manager • Discharge & Conditions • 37 – Detention Order • 41 - Restrictions of discharge Responsible Clinician Ministry of Justice • Approved by Local Authority (CMHT) • Assisting reintegration • Monitoring of mental health and increased risk (eyes and ears) • Submit progress reports to Case Manager at least 3 monthly Social Supervisor • Case Manager – • Ability to recall to Hospital • Agree variations to care plan • Mental Health Care • Social Care • Housing Other Services
