  1. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

  2. What kind of film is it? • Our thriller film is more like a British independent film rather than a big Hollywood blockbuster. We had no budget on our film however, if we were professional film makers we would have a budget of over £5m. I think that the fact our film is a British Indie film it kind of limits the broadness of our audience therefore also limits overall profit. • Also, the topic of our film is quite a sensitive and slightly controversial topic and some companies may not want to distribute our film because of this. • Some examples of controversial films are; the famous Psycho, A Clockwork Orange, The Evil Dead.

  3. Vertical integration: one company works on the film throughout each process of production, distribution and exhibition. Most companies prefer to do this as it allows them to receive all the profit rather than distributing it between the different companies. • Horizontal integration: different companies work together during each stage of film production, distribution and exhibition. So each company gets a share of the profit. • Globalization: companies are now joining together; they have a global reach and reach a global audience.

  4. dogwoof • There are some companies I think would distribute our film because of the previous films they’ve distributed and due to the style of films the distribute. • One of the companies I looked in to is called dogwoof. It was founded in 2004 and it’s a British independent company. They work closely with filmmakers throughout the process of film distribution. • Some of the films they’ve distributed are;Food, Inc., Burma VJ, The Age of Stupid. • “Dogwoof’s aim is to evolve with the changing film market and provide consumers with not only the films they want but also the platforms they want to view them on.”

  5. Metrodome • Metrodome group is comprised of two parts (Metrodome distribution which handles films and home entertainment in the UK) and Hollywood Classics. • Metrodome have worked with some of the biggest names in the business; CharlizeTheron, Colin Firth, Jake Gyllenhaal and many others. • “As a business we excel in creating bespoke, cost effective release strategies to maximise returns for all stakeholders. ”
