Course synopsis The course is designed to develop students’ spoken and written communication skills effectively. This is vital in helping them to enter the job market and preparing them for workplace. Students will enhance their language skills via learning activities that incorporate communication strategies, interactions and feedback. The learning activities include, but not limited to, carrying out presentations, attending mock-job interviews, writing business correspondence, and conducting meetings.
Collaboration rubrics Students are required to fill in the collaboration rubrics form for each assessment that involves working with others, either in pairs or in team. Please insert the hardcopy of the completed evaluation form in my pigeon hole at Level 1, CMLHS, Chancellery block.
Wikispaces and Skypes I use wikispaces to upload notes. Here is the link http://uhl2432semi20132014.wikispaces.com/ Students are also required to create individual wikispacesfor this course. Additionally, discussions will also be carried out via Skype. Students must have individual Skype account.
Reflection Reflection is important because it provides The opportunity for us to sit back and review our learning. This practice allows us to improve. Indirectly we will grow as a better individual. Create a page entitled ‘Reflection’ in your wikispaces. Every week, until the end of the semester, you must write something on this page.
Learning Contract Promises students (you) made about their (your) learning. Go to ‘Overview’ page on my wikispaces. Download the Learning Contract form. Fill in the form. Create a page entitled ‘Learning Contract’ in your Wikispacesand then upload the completed form on the page.
