  2. Newquay Newquay is a seaside town and a fishing port situated on the north Atlantic Coast of the Cornwall peninsula, Co. Cornwall. It is considered as one of the biggest and the most important cities in the county. It is situated approximately 20 miles west of Bodmin and 12 miles north of Truro (capital). The really great thing about Newquay is surf culture, including the schools and adventure centers which are at the heart of the city. So, this city is known as the surfing capital. In fact is the perfect place to get into the waves. For lovers of natural sites, you will be charmed by the Riviera Britanique : the numerous cliffs, caves, creeks, shall not leave you indifferent.   6. Monday, 15th April • Landing atairport : 13:55 pm • Departure by bus toward accomodation (about 16 min drive) • Installation in rooms + relaxation for 1 hour • 15:30 pm • Visit the riviera britannique* • 18:00 pm Return to hostel and supper

  7. The Riviera Britanique The Riviera Britannique is one of the most visited sites in Cornwall. On 11 km, it offers landscapes typical of this county : caves, creeks; high cliffs some of which being up to 223 meters’ high. Beinga geographer, youcouldnot pass by this remarkeably beautifullandscapewithoutstoppingthere for a while We can put into practice our class : look atnature and the rock formation… You will not be disappointed by the landcape

Tuesday, 16th April • From 8:30 am till 9:45 am The breakfast is served. • 10:15 am  We shall go to visit the castle of Trerice* Address : Kestle Mill, near Newquay, TR8 4PG • 12:00 pm Restaurant of the Castle of Trerice(Itis situated inside the castle) • 1:00 – 1:30 pm  We shall go and visit the village of Crantock* • 4:00 pm= break time Ex: Shopping, drink at the pub, Unwinding time on the beach • 6:00 pm Back to inn • 7:30 pm Dinner • The end of day

  9. The Castle of Trerice The manor house of Trerice is an Elizabethanmanor house. It’s a stone manorhouse, reconstructed in 1572-1573 in the shape of E. On enteringthe manor, you will be captivated by the numeroussculpture and by the furnishing. We can also visit the garden. It has an orchardwith oldvarieties of fruit trees.   10. The village of Crantock Crantock is a charming village in Cornwall about two miles (3km) southwest of Newquay. It is a small, sparselypopulated village. In 2001, the village had 764 inhabitants. Crantock is also popular for surfing, for its many sandy beaches and dunes. Religion is also well represented by its beautiful church… Wehave chosen to visit this village because it is not far away of Newquay, but the village canoffer a break between a festive city (Newquay) and a restful village. You can admire the sea shore and coastlinewithincredible diffs and large expanse of beach..

Wednesday, 17th April • From 9:00 am till 10:15 am Tasting of the breakfast • 10:30 am We shall go to visit the museum of British surfing * Address : 5 Mowhay close TR+2RJ, Newquay (The visit lasts approximately 1 hour) • 12:00 pm Restaurant “ The tavern Inn”, Newquay • 1:00 – 1:30 pm  We shall go to visit “Zinc mine of Groover”* route = 1 hour • 4:00 pm 4:30 pm= break time Gift shop, • 6:00 pm Back to inn • 7:30 pm Dinner • The end of day

  12. Museum of British surfing This museum is a museumof surfing, whichistypical of Newquay. Enthousiastsor surfers can discover the history of the sport. The museumwascreatedto preserve our surfing heritage The main objectives are to inspire, educate and encourage debate about our surfing culture and our second home : the sea. The museum has adopted a Sustainability Policy for itsstaff and volunteers to work. It wantsto become carbon neutral.   13. Zinc mine of Geevor The zinc mine is situated on the spectacular coast of Pendeer in Cornwall. Today, this mine is situated on the European road of the industrial heritage because it is considered as one of the most important in the country. It worked from 1909 till 1991. During this period, 50 000 tons of cassitérite were extracted. We chose this mine because it testifies to the industrial and historic heritage of the county. This visit will take place along an underground passage dating from the 18th century, which will allow us to dive in its history. Price = 6£/ 7,40€ per student
