  3. The 1st Mortgage • December 1st 2003 • $1,035,000.00 • 2% Interest • $4382.00 a month

  4. RENEW our Mortgage • Due November 30th 2013 • $524,000.00 • 6% Interest • $4877.00 a month

  5. Gifts and Challenge from our Synod The Synod will match DOLLAR for DOLLAR up to $75,000.00 monies raised by Westside to apply against our mortgage which falls due November 30th 2013. AND

  6. The Synod has forgiven $71,000.00 in loans. The loans were granted to pay current expenses and mortgage payments.

  7. OUR MORTGAGE CHALLENGE To raise $75,000.00 by October 31st 2013, to match the Synod's challenge

  8. If we meet the Challenge we will REDUCE our mortgage by $150,000.00 and RENEW on November 30th2013 for $374,000.00. which will

  9. REDUCE mortgage payments from $4877.00 to $2715.00 a month Keeping in mind

  10. Beginning in January 2014 We will most probably no longer qualify for the $1500.00 a MONTHwe now receive in Synod Support. however

  11. This still frees up almost $660.00 a month. We will REJOICE in having these extra funds to support our Choir, Sunday Church School, Messy Church, Garden, Neighborhood and other Outreach programs.

  12. REJOICE with Long Term Savings Achieving the Challenge Goal will also SAVE over $260,000.00 in INTEREST COSTS ALONE over the term of the mortgage.

  13. Assumptions That we will meet the Challenge.

  14. New Mortgage - Interest rate @ 6 ¼% - 5 year term – 20 year amortization.

  15. Synod support of $1500.00 a month will not continue past 2013.

  16. How can we meet the Challenge?

  17. PRAY: for strength and guidance and for His blessings on our endeavors.

  18. PARTICIPATE AND SUPPORT: in the special events planned by groups and individuals to raise funds. Attend and bring friends and neighbours.

  19. SUPPORT: the challenge to the best of our abilities with financial gifts.

  20. How Should I Respond to the Challenge? Prayerfully consider and ask for guidance on how you might participate. It is recognized that: .

  21. Not everyone will be a financial position to support the Challenge financially. It is more important to maintain your regular gifts than give to the Challenge.

  22. However, if you are considering support with a gift(s) over and above your present regular offerings please let us know by completing aMortgage Challenge Card.

  23. Knowing your intentions early in the Challenge will help in determining our ability to reach the goal. Gifts are needed by October 31st2013 and may be made on a regular or onetime basis.

  24. What if I can’t participate as I would like? Make a financial gift only of you can. There are those who are already giving at the full extent of their means. No one should feel guilty if they cant participate. It is more important to maintain your present giving commitment.

  25. How do I participate with financially? Complete and follow the instructions on the Mortgage Challenge Card enclosed with the letter you will receive shortly.

  26. Make participation “Second Mile” gifts over and above regular giving.

  27. Enclose gifts in the special “Mortgage Challenge” envelopes which will be located in the pew racks or on the mail table.

  28. When Should I Give ? The sooner the better since Mortgage Challenge Funds will be applied as soon as received to the outstanding mortgage balance.This means your gifts are effectively earning 6% through reduced interest costs.

  29. Each $100.00 received prior to November 30th 2012 will generate a return of $106.00.

  30. Give, weekly, monthly or onetime but no later than October 31st 2013.

  31. What Happens Next? A letter explainingthe challenge and how you can respond with your gifts will be mailed shortly.

  32. The Challenge runs from November 1st 2012 to October 31st 2013.

  33. And We REJOICE That GOD continues to Nurture and Bless our Congregation

  34. That HE has a Mission for Westside and will continue to lead and guide us as we prayerfully consider our response to this Challenge
