  2. S.R. Rosati, Inc.- A Company History Started in 1912 in West Philadelphia, S.R. Rosati, Inc. is the Original Italian Water Ice! In 1955, S.R. Rosati’s son, Sam, moved the business to Clifton Heights, PA, where the production plant is presently located. Rosati was the first to mass-produce Italian Ice in bulk cans. In 1960 became the first company to produce Italian Ice in cups. Sam sold the business in 1988 to his daughter and son-in-law, Rosemarie and Jim Salomone and in 1997 they sold the business to the present owners, Dave Schumacher and Rich Trotter. In the last thirteen years, Rosati has expanded its sales reaching beyond the greater Philadelphia area to thirty-three states. Channels of sales include single serve sales to the ice cream vending industry; school sales, retail supermarket and bulk can sales. Rosati 4 and 6 oz. cups are known for their unique spoon under the lid concept, which has entrenched their presence in the vending and school industry. In 1999, Rosati licensed the Crybaby name for its ices, which has led to its quick expansion across the country. Habla Espanol? In March 2010, Rosati introduced its new line of Rosa Rosati Bolis and Mango Italian ice cup supermarket packs. Bolis are a unique Central American frozen treat and the mango flavor is the fastest growing flavor in the ice market. Rosati Water Ice continues to build new markets and create new concepts.
