Phonics • Let’s review the meanings of some common prefixes: • Un- not • Re- again • Mis- bad or badly, wrong or wrongly • Dis- not, or the opposite of
Phonics unhappy rewrite misplace disagree • Let’s cover the prefix of the first word. • What is the base word? The prefix un- means “not” or “do the opposite of.” Adding un- to a word will change the meaning of the base word. • Use the word in a sentence. • Let’s do the same for the next 3 words.

Read the words in context. • They were uninterested in the dishonest activity. • The lost book had been mislabeled and replaced on the wrong shelf. Which words have prefixes? What do they mean?
