  1. Atmospheric Muon This is a muon that was produced naturally from cosmic rays hitting the atmosphere. Only the highest energy muons can penetrate the ½ mile of rock to reach the detector.

  2. Low energyAtmospheric Muon This is a muon that barely made it to the detector. Notice the small distance it traveled before being stopped. Why is this muon path curved?

  3. “Wild”Muon NeutrinoNeutrinos naturally come from space, our sun and the atmosphere. We know that a neutrino produced a muon when it struck the nucleus of an atom of steel because the muon suddenly appeared (seemingly out of nowhere) inside our detector Can you tell which direction the neutrino came from

  4. Zoomed in Atmospheric Muon NeutrinoThis is a zoomed in version of the previous event. How many scintillator strips did the muon pass through?

  5. AnotherMuon Neutrino(simulated)

  6. Electron NeutrinoAn electron neutrino will produce an electron when it interacts with a nucleus. While we can tell in the detector when this occurs it shows up in the detector as a small spray of photons and we can’t tell much more. This will be the job for: NOvA NuMI Off-axis ve Appearance experiment
