On what were Job’s friends basing their advice? Can you think of any “clichés” that people often use when giving advice that are rooted in biblical truth but may miss the mark in their entirety?

Why do you think it is so important to only give advice when you are able to give it in love? What are the possible consequences when we don’t follow this guideline?

Be sure your advice meets all five of the question criteria outlined here and pray that God present you with an opportunity to speak. If you have given advice recently that you now see was not Biblical, factual, necessary, teachable or given in love; pray that God give you the wisdom and opportunity to apologize and make the relationship right.
