  • All life forms are based on the bonding properties of the element Carbon

  • The molecules involved in suppporting life are called Biomolecules

  • Element: Smallest particles of matter

  • Molecule: Made up of a number of elements H2O molecule made of hydrogen and oxygen.

  • DNA and other proteins in your body are made from only 20 amino acids

  • The order in which they form determine their shape and therefore how they function

  • Construction: Carbon chan, hydrogen and oxygen

  • Fats store energy for later use

  • Fatty tissues cushion your organs and provide your body with insulation.

  • Support body functions

  • What is glycogen? Chain of glucose stores energy in liver + muscles carbohydrate

  • Pasta is a starchy food – why might we eat pasta before a marathon? Starch is broken down slowly to release the glucose like a time release system.

  • Dehydration reaction- removal of water making a molecule remove water molecules.
