  2. Astute- Shrewd and crafty • The accountant was very astute when it came to dealing with the IRS.

  3. Consult- to seek advice from or refer to • Many people today consult WebMD when they get sick or want to get more information about disease or diagnosis.

  4. Docile- easily taught or managed or obedient • Since Labrador retrievers are docile, they make good seeing-eye dogs.

  5. Enlighten- to instruct spiritually or intellectually • The goal of the advertising campaign is to enlighten the world about the health risks associated with fast food.

  6. Illiterate-unable to read or write or having little or no education • The migrant farm workers‘ children were illiterate because they never stayed in one place long enough to get an education.

  7. Mentor- a trusted friend, guide, couch, or tutor. • Under the influence of her mentor and role model, she learned how to set and achieve goals.

  8. Naïve- simple, uninformed, or lacking wisdom and experience • Nancy is so naïve she believes everything any one tells her, no matter how unlikely it is.

  9. Rustic- simple and unsophisticated • The log cabin was so rustic that it looked completely out of place in the city neighborhood.

  10. Unwitting- ignorant or unaware • The tourists with their bulging wallets, gaudy jewelry, and care free attitudes were unwitting targets for pickpocketing.
