  1. Claude Fox-Revett, Mind’s Eye Promotions Final Report

  2. Venture Introduction Mind’s Eye Promotions is a company designed to increase the visibility and the awareness of “garage” bands and local talent in the Greater Toronto Area. This was to be done through a series of “warm up” concerts at various venues, culminating in a show in the Scenecenter at the Newnham Seneca Campus.

  3. The TEAM • The Student: Claude Fox-Revett • The Professor: Peter Miller • The Professional: Shawn Bolduc • The Student Advisor: Richard Davies

  4. The Project • Purpose To raise awareness of the bands, and to facilitate the entrance of Mind’s Eye Productions into the market. In addition it was meant to act as a jumping off point for a side business in the future.

  5. The Project, cont. • Scope • Is/does • A show at the senecenter • an opportunity for the bands to attract a bigger audience and get their name out • Is not/does not • a merchanising outfit at the senecenter • a get rich quick scheme

  6. The Project, Cont • Step 1: Locate Venues and Bands • Step 2: Negotiate Contracts with Venues and Bands -This includes dates, distribution of ticket revenue, bar sales, etc. and liabilities • Step 3: Organise & Run “Warm-up” shows -Shows that are designed to act as an introduction to the band, or the venue, or both as to how Mind’s Eye Promotions does business, and what to expect in the future • Step 4: Organise the Scenecenter Show -Contact the SSF if they had not already been contacted, and negotiate an agreement -In addition decide which Bands would be best suited to play said show • Step 5: Run ScenecenterShow

  8. The Project, Cont • End Product A show played at the Senecenter by 2-3 bands at the end of the semester. This later changed to providing live bands for the carnival that the SSF was to be providing on April 12th, but was later canceled when the idea was voted down on April 10th.

  9. What I learned • All about who you know • If at all possible make sure you are over seeing as much of the planning as possible • If that’s not possible have someone you trust over see the planning • Stay in contact

  10. Conclusions • Learned a large amount of information that will help in future endevors • I’m thankful for the opportunity • I don’t possess all the skill required to solve every problem • MEP will live on as Mind’s Eye Entertainment Productions (MEEP)
