  2. Why customers are important • all businesses need customers!!! • in other words, businesses have to be customer-led • customers help businesses achieve their aims and objectives • the aims of a private sector business might be to increase sales and profits and to increase market share

  3. What customers want • to attract and keep customers, businesses need to offer more than just a good product • they also have to provide good customer service • customers need to feel that they are valued by a business • customers have needs and wants – the business must try and satisfy these

  4. The benefits of providing good customer service… • gaining and retaining customers • gaining customer satisfaction and loyalty • increasing the chance of repeat business • enhancing the image and reputation of a business organisation

  5. The relationship between businesses and customers A happy customer means a happy business! Businesses need customers to buy their goods and use their services Customers need businesses to provide them with goods and services Businesses generate sales and profits from customers Customers rely on businesses to satisfy their needs and wants
