  1. Dhul Hijjah 12th Month in Islamic Calendar

  2. Islamic Calendar • Islamic Calendar- based on the phases of the moon • Four holy months of the year: • Muharram (1st month) • Rajab (7th month) • Dhul Qa’dah (11th month) • Dhul Hijjah (12th month)

  3. The Most Blessed Days First ten days of Dhul Hijjah “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” (hadith)

  4. More holy than Ramadan? The first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are more blessed than even the days of Ramadan. But the last 10 nights of Ramadan are more blessed than the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah.

  5. What to do during Dhul Hijjah? Go for Hajj or ‘Umrah! • This is the only time we can do Hajj • But if you can’t perform Hajj, then there’s still ways to share in the reward...

  6. If you can’t go for Hajj... • Fast • especially on the Day of Arafat (9th day of Dhul Hijjah) • sins from last year and next year forgiven • Do extra dhikr- • say it out loud and wherever you are! (this is the sunnah)

  7. More good stuff you can do • Repent to Allah from your sins: • feel guilty • stop the sin • resolve to become a better person • Read more Quran • Perform extra prayer • (especially tahajjud prayer)

  8. What you MUST do: • Go to Eid prayer • Don’t skip out...this is required upon all Muslims!

  9. So when will Dhul Hijjah start? Possibly September 24, 2014 after Maghrib! Check with your masjid!
