  2. Variables • Definition – a type of category you are trying to measure • an object, event, idea, feeling, time period • Types of Variables • Independent • Dependent

  3. Independent Variable • A variable whose value does not depend on that of another • Is not changed by other variables being measured • What you choose and manipulate

  4. Dependent Variable • A variable whose value depends on that of another • Depends on the independent variable • What you measure in the experiment

  5. How to determine the variables • Fill in the variables to determine which makes the most sense • (Independent variable) causes a change in (Dependent variable) and it isn’t possible that (Dependent variable) could cause a change in (Independent variable).
