  5. Why Certify? • Improve the Quality of Your eLearning Course • Help Trainers Differentiate when Buying an eLearning Course • Help eLearning Companies Develop Courses According to Standards • Can you think of another reason ASTD would want you to certify?

  7. What is Certification? • Way of Ensuring Quality eLearning Courseware • Primarily for Asynchronous, Off-the-Shelf, Web-based or CD-ROM Courses • Why would it be just for asynchronous courses? Any ideas? • 4 Main Standards: Interface, Compatibility, Production Quality, Instructional Design

  18. A Few Details • Standards are very detailed • Substitutable vs. Non-substitutable Standards • Standard is broken into parts and each part is given a value • Cut-off score for each standard • Example: 4 out of 6 points is “passing”

Certification Process • If you are certified: • Receive the ASTD eLearning Courseware Certification logo & Instructions • Certified course is placed in ASTD Certification Institute searchable database • If you are not certified: • Reconsideration • Corrective action (you fix what’s wrong) • Appeals Process • Guess what?!?!?!?
