  4. Why Video? VIDEO HELPS TO PROMOTE: • Creativity • Collaboration • Problem Solving • Life Long Learning Video transcends the curriculum because it allows you to reach beyond the curriculum. Video expands the classroom beyond the four walls and supports models of teaching and learning that are student-centered.

Elementary School • Video Book Reports • TV Show based on the book • Document Research • Scientific Processes (Life Cycle of a Butterfly) • Local environmental issues • Local historical sites • Sharing Knowledge • Students can videotape themselves presenting a lesson in a specific content area

  6. Middle School • Video Pen Pals • Create and edit footage and email to students in other school districts and even overseas • Documenting Historical Events • Students can study a specific time period and recreate the time period through a video • Create Commercials on a Content Area • Students visual demonstrate a concept in a 30 second video summary

  7. High School • Video Yearbook -Have students document activities through the year and compile the footage in a DVD or VHS tape. • Science Lab Review -Videotape experiments, dissections, etc. to review the processes involved. Utilize slow motion and freeze functions to highlight pertinent concepts. • Highlight tapes • Showcase students’ talents onto a DVD or videotape.

  11. Rule of Thirds Rule of thirds divides the frame into thirds both horizontally and vertically. The points where the vertical and horizontal lines cross are aesthetically pleasing spots to place subjects or to have perspective lines converge. It is usually best to avoid placing horizon lines exactly in the middle of a frame, but to place the horizon either above or below center, approximately one-third or two-thirds up the height of the frame.

Better to replace a dead battery before you leave for a shoot, than have to cancel the shoot when you get there.
