  2. When the microphone was invented and who invented it.. • In 1877, Emily Berliner invented the first microphone used as a telephone voice transmitter.

  3. Where and how the microphone is used • Condenser microphones are generally used only in studios because of their sensitivity to loud sounds and the fact that they're quite a bit more fragile than their dynamic counterparts. They require the use of a power supply, generally 48 volt "phantom power", and that's supplied very easily by most mixing boards or external power supplies (look for a switch that says "P 48" or "48V" on the channel strip or on the back of the mixer.

  4. special features of the microphone • It is used as a special type capacitor which has a permanent voltage built in doing manufacture.

  5. type of directionality the microphone has • Microphones are used in many applications such as telephones , tapes recorders karaoke systems, hearing aids, motion picture production, live and recorded audio engineering, FRS radios. Megaphones, in radio and teleivision broadcasting and in computers for recording voice, speech recognition, volp, and for non acoustic purposes

  6. Why the microphone is important to the field of broadcast video and production • It is unique in its ability to capture the realism of a live event and yet withstand rigorous field production environments.
