  2. El VerboTener • What does “tener” mean? • To have • Forms of Tener: • Yotengo • Tútienes • Él, Ella, Ustedtiene • Nosotrostenemos • Vosotrostenéis • Ellos, Ellas, Ustedestienen

  3. What is a Direct Object Pronoun? • Takes the place of the direct object in the sentence • Usually means “it” or “they”

  4. What is a Direct Object Pronoun? • The DOP can also replace a person in the sentence. • Then the meanings are similar to me, you, him, her, us, you all (vosotros), they, and you all (uds.)

  5. Tetoca a tí • Con un/a compañero/a – Decide the correct DOP for each word • Manzana • Yo • Papel • Libros • Zapatos • Plumas

  6. Put them together • What do ya got? • Use “tener” and the DOP to answer each question. • ¿Tienes un gato? • ¿Tienenustedesuna casa grande? • ¿Tienesunasuvas? • ¿Tienesunoslibros de Harry Potter? • ¿Tienesunahermana?

  7. Packet – DOP’s • Review – what is a DOP? • When do you need to use it? • Where is it placed in the sentence? • What do they mean? • Create 5 questions similar to our warm up today. • Trade packets with a partner. • Partner, answer the questions using the DOP.

  8. Interview! • Use the information gap activity to interview a classmate. Use the DOP when you answer your classmate. Look at the picture to decide what each person needs. • Necesitar – to need • Ex. ¿Necesita Juan unapluma? • Sí, Juan la necesita. • No, Juan no la necesita. • This is your exit ticket today! • Don’t forget…project due and quiz on Tuesday – ser vs. estar!
