  3. Turkey Brook Park’s Rich History… The Seward House Historically this 270-acre parcel of land was originally a part of the Seward Estate. This circa 1858 style mansion was the grandest of houses in all of Mt. Olive Township for many years. In the early 1900’s the Turkey Brook Property was used as a farm and supplied New York City with produce. In 1990, the township began the process to purchase the land and in 1996 it was purchased for $ 2.5 million.

Turkey Brook ParkFlanders Road - Mount Olive Township • In 1990, the Township began the process to purchase the land and in 1996, it was purchased for $2.5 million, partially funded through a Green Acres Grant of $534,000 and the Morris County Open Space Trust in the amount of $534,000. • The ground breaking for Phase 1 was May 5, 2001 • Turkey Brook park Grand Opening will be Saturday, July 19th , 2003, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

  5. Where Are We Now? • Total Project Cost = $13 Million • Present Funding = $5.8 Million • Partner Contributions = $1 Million Bond • Present Need = $6.2 Million Phase 1 of the Park Development Completed Grand Opening July 19th, 4-9:30 p.m.

  15. Other Ways to Contribute Mt. Olive Park Partners (MOPP) Paver Program for Turkey Brook Park The Mt. Olive Park Partners (MOPP) Paver Program offers residents, school groups, civic organizations and businesses an opportunity to memorialize a loved one, friend, or just showcase your family nameon a paver for the Walkway by the Saturn Playground in Turkey Brook Park. Each personalized paver is $100 and forms may be obtained on the Mt. Olive Township website at: www.mountolivetownship.com Mt. Olive Park Partners (MOPP), is a volunteer group of residents who formed a 501c3 organization with the mission of raising funds for the beautification of all Mt. Olive Township Parks. Donations made to MOPP are tax deductible.
