  2. Sr. Elizabeth Purcell I celebrated 50 years of profession this year! I was born in the south of Ireland, in the shadow of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. I made my profession in 1965 in England, (then one province with Ireland). After profession I went immediately to Turin to prepare for the mission of Hong Kong but ended up in 12th Street, New York, with 60 5th graders! An unusual story but a happy one. After 6 years in the USA Province I was asked to go to Lancashire, northwest of England (the UK had now become a province on its own). During 35 years of a much fulfilled life in various parts of the UK, my mission was, for the most part, in formation and leadership. However, I was always happily involved part-time in schools, youth centres, chaplaincy, Vides UK, and our Retreat Centre. In 2009, another unusual story…….I ended up in the great country of Canada and have lived 6 amazing years here with my sisters who are passionate about their Salesian vocation to young people and so welcoming! Merci pour cecadeau! I’d like to close with my favourite scripture quote that has lightened my heart and steadied my steps in gratitude down the years: “This is what Yahweh asks of you; only this: To act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God.”
