Calorimeters LED & HV control Status of the calorimeters MV power supply and ECS control Five Agilent PS's will be used for producing middle voltages (100, 150, 30, 18 V) for calorimeter sub-detectors. a) ECAL four units PS (100V, 30V,100V, 30V for A and C sides); b) HCAL four units PS (100V, 30V,100V, 30V for A and C sides); c) PS/SPD one unit PS (150V for side A); d) PS/SPD one unit PS (150V for side C); c) PS/SPD two units PS (18V, 18V for side A and C); May be it will be excluded and on platform Maraton PS will be used. Each power supply has one LAN connection to ECS. The soft prototype is ready and will be installed on the HCAL DCS PC. The PC name and location is unknown for me at the moment. New PS crates placement into the rack D3B04. The problem with cooling was solved. LHCb CALO meeting 4.04.07 Anatoli Konoplyannikov /ITEP/

Calorimeters LED & HV control Status of the calorimeters MV power supply and ECS control • First prototype of the PVSS software for control and monitor these devices was developed. • Agilent DIM server was written; • Control PVSS software is based on JCOB fwWiener and LHCb online group lbLV components. • Integration to LHCb FSM architecture is under progress now. Calorimeters LED & HV control Status of the ECAL/HCAL HV power supply and ECS control • ECAL/HCAL HV_LED_DAC boards were installed on the sub-detectors and they are used for commissioning. • During the commissioning time it was found that the auto protection circuits some times switch of the 100 V power due to some grounding reasons (thanks to Irina and Iouri discovered this) . • The problem was investigated and solved by updating the control logic FPGA firmware. • Firmware was updated for all HCAL boards and for the ECAL boards will be updated in one – two weeks. It has some additional features: • Integrated into FSM tree with possibility to use recipes. • Improved an expert panel graphics. • An automated procedure of the HV recovery after a HV trip will be added soon. Calorimeters LED & HV control Status of the PS/SPD HV power supply and ECS control • The PS/SPD HV system has been produced and delivered at CERN. • 50 % of the electronics were tested and passed the QC. • Second half is under test now. • The ECS software is under development and first working prototype version already exist. • Some firmware improvement of the ACTEL FPGA will be needed in a sense of the over current protection.   8. Calorimeters LED & HV control Status of the LEDTSB boards and ECS control 15 LEDTSB boards have been produced. Few weeks ago last version the Specs mezzanines (without the RJ45 connectors) were delivered at CERN and installed on the boards. The boards are ready for installation into the FE crates. Calorimeters LED & HV control Global commissioning test with LED system • The LED system is ready for the global commissioning test of the FE, DAQ and L0 electronics. • But the next step is sub-detectors commissioning with LED system. • The calorimeters time alignment is very important thing and could be start after DAQ test immediately. For doing the detector time alignment we have to implement an automated process to scan the LED delay from PVSS and collect data by DAQ (increment step by step the delay of the LEDTSB). • There are two possibility to collect data of the delay scan calibration. • One is with using the "spy" DAQ mode, as we did last time with Frederic. Unfortunately the needed final CAT scan process has not been implemented and it was decided to use the normal DAQ. • Second one is with using the normal DAQ. In this case for me it is not enough clear how to implement an interface between PVSS, TFC and a data collected in to the farm. • I have asked the calorimeter experts to clarify the possible implementation of this interface, but I’v got only one answer. • As you know there is some activity of the LHCb Online group to make some PVSS template for a calibration scan run and may be soon we will get it. Calorimeters LED & HV control Conclusion & Planning • Prototypes and preproduction version of the PVSS software tools for HV and LED intensity control have been developed. • Prototype of the PVSS software tool for MV power supplies control has been developed. • The procedure of the relative time alignment with normal DAQ will be developed and tested (I hope) soon. • Next step is a test in the Pit.
