What your Counselor can do for You! • Academic advising and graduation planning • Career planning (what do you want to be?) • Personal counseling • Help you find solutions to problems you have • Post-high school options: exploration and help with planning & getting enrolled Come to the Counseling Center to make an appointment.

Post High School Options • Go directly into the workforce after graduation (on-the-job training) • Military (enlist, ROTC, Academy) • Apprenticeships (work while learning a trade) • Specialty/Technical College(2-year college program in a specific trade/career area) • Community College(Get an Associate’s Degree OR an Applied Bachelor’s Degree, OR transfer to a 4-year) • 4-year College (Bachelor’s Degree or more) • “Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.   8. Take a minute… • What message(s) is the video trying to illustrate? • What is YOUR opinion about the video? • Think about whether or not the explanation of how to “succeed” in today’s economy has any bearing on the post-high school options YOU are currently exploring…

  9. High School & Beyond Plan An evolving process of career exploration and academic planning. Completion of this on-line portfolio is a graduation requirement. • Lessons will be led by (me) using the Career Cruising website as a tool to help you figure out what to do after high school. • Each year, we will help you explore what you’re passionate about and/or interested in (Who am I?) and then research careers that match your interests & skills (What, then, can I become?). Finally, we help you determine the education/training needed for that career! (How do I become that?).

  11. HOW TO MAXIMIZE YOUR TIME • Take most rigorous coursesYOU can. • Select classes related to YOURinterests. • Maintain highest grades possible. GPA is important. • Get involved in OHS or other activities. • Devote some time to meaningful community service. • Develop clear goals for your future & record them in your High School & Beyond Plan portfolio. • Build skillsthat will help you get & keep a job. Ask for help. Make an appointment to talk with your Counselor sometime this year. Visit the Career Center to explore your post-high school options…. We’re here to help you! 
