  4. Middle School Experience • Try different activities! • Allow students be independent workers • Grades don’t count!

  5. Individualized Options (I.O.) • Most of the I.O. activities are shared among all three buildings. Example – Creative Convention, World Affairs, Equations, and MORE! • Some are unique to MMS: Open Heart Surgery, Organic Architecture, Young Playwrights, K’nex, Jewish/Israeli Film Festival • 90% require a permission slip northallegheny.org • If student decides NOT to attend, an e-mail or note must be written

  6. Grade 6: • 2 X per week – based upon I.O. schedule AND what’s happening at MMS. • GOAL reading classroom for unit work. • Lunch time meetings when necessary OR when looking for additional challenges

  7. Units – 6 • Gift Rap • Toy Company • NA Law • Olympics of the Mind

  8. Grade 7: • Twice a week out of Reading class • Days of the week (TBD) • Lunch meetings as necessary and for extra challenges

  9. Units- 7: • Olympics of the Mind • Multiple Intelligences • Wax Museum • Poetry for Two Voices

  10. Grade 8: • Once a week out of English class • Monday? • Lunch meetings when necessary and for extra challenges

  11. Units-8 • Olympics of the Mind • Debate • Holocaust Memorial Project • Individualized Options

  12. GIEP • Invitations • Dates based on previous years’ conference date • Determined by teacher and principal availability • IF you can’t make the assigned time, a new time will be worked out.
