  1. Welcome to Class!I am so glad you are here! Paper/Pencil Bellringer Roll Call

  2. Ribbon FlowersMSAGED 6-5, 8-6 Express knowledge of the area of horticulture (plants).MSAGED 6-7, 8-5, 8-19 Careers in agriculture (florist). You need 1 yard of ribbon.

  3. Fold the ribbon in half so that the rough sides touch.

  4. Now, at the center point of the ribbon, make an “L” or right angle. Notice the angle

  5. At this point, do not pick your ribbon up off the table. If you do, you are guaranteed to mess up.

  6. Now, fold the underside over to the other side. Notice the “square”.

  7. Continue folding the underside over, and over, and over until there is no more ribbon to fold.

  8. Now, pick one of the ends of ribbon and pull slowly until the “rose” forms. WATCH THE TEACHER DO THE DEMONSTRATION FIRST.

  9. TIGHTLY secure your rose with a wire.

  10. Now, cover the wire with florist’s tape. Tear off a piece 6-8 inches long. As you stretch it and your body heats it up, the tape will stick to itself.

  11. Wrap in a diagonal, like a candy cane. • Do not wrap in a “stack”. • The tape should be flat and tight. • The tape should cover all wires.

  12. Add a leaf. • Choose a leaf to add to your flower. • Cut a long stem on the leaf. • Secure it with florist’s tape.

  13. Feel free to make more roses. • You can make smaller roses also with a number 3 ribbon. • If you are not making more flowers, you need to read your AR books silently.
