  1. True Passion: Session Two,1 Samuel 17:1-38 Why is it important to have true passion? Without true passion, the Kingdom of God is at stake. The battle is not always so obvious.

  2. The enemies of God’s Kingdom are several. Some are money, power, self-esteem, success, property, possessions and family. • They can easily get in the way of serving the King and allow the advancement of the Kingdom of God to suffer.

The bigger they are,the harder they fall. • “My god can beat up your god.” • The enemy will always challenge our true passion. • The Philistines should not have had this opportunity to challenge. • Disobedience allows the enemy a foothold. • Remember the battle belongs to the Lord. • True passion fights for the Kingdom, not personal gain or pride.

Excuses for Goliath’s defeat • He was feeling offended after being called an “uncircumcised Philistine”. • He misunderstood and thought David was bringing him a snack - 5 smooth “scones”. • He felt woozy after eating bad mutton for lunch. • His mentor in warrior school left out defending against slingshots. • He lost the stone in the sun.

  6. Go and make disciplesof all nations. • This task can seem overwhelming to the one without passion. • It is important to have true passion that celebrates the victories great and small. • True passion knows that the task can be accomplished and will be done. • There will always be those who will criticize. • The personal challenge must be accepted by each of us.

  7. Conclusion To us, Goliath may have been too big to hit, but to David he was too big to miss.
