Steps in Analysis of Events • Identify jets and muons and write energies in table. • Measure and record angles of jets and muons counterclockwise from +x axis. • Draw vectors in rectangular space or on graph paper using head-to-tail method. Represent momentum of 10 GeV/c as 1.0 cm arrow. • Neutrino energy in GeV is the length of the arrow you must draw in order to make the total pT = 0. • Add all of the jet, muon, and neutrino energies and divide the sum by two to get the top quark mass.
