  • According to Christian belief Virgin Mary may have spent her last days in this house which was erected on the slope of the Bulbul Mountain. Indeed, she may have come in the area together with Saint John, who spent several years in the area to spread Christianity.

  • According to the historian Eusebios, St. John returned to Ephesus with Mary after being banished from Jerusalem between 37 and 42 A.D. He continued to write the Bible after a period he died here at Ephesus. Following his will, he was buried in the southern foothills of Ayasuluk Hill.
