  5. (2) Create More Lookups with Advanced Lookups • Who couldn’t use a few good lookups!

  6. (3) Remove Errant AutoComplete Just right click and remove!

  7. (4) Change Toolbar Buttons • Add buttons for quick access • Include a menu button • Put words on buttons • Changing the button name changes the GP menu name

  8. (5) Add Items to the Desktop • Reports • SmartList Favorites • Windows

  9. (6) Search using “Contains” • Basic lookup sorts alphabetically • Binocular button for advanced search • Advanced search can use “contains”

  10. (7) Gross Up Utility • Put in the net desired • Enter income tax percentages • Gross is calculated automatically!

  11. (8) Mass Transaction Entry • Put in Code (pay, deduction or benefit) • Choose range of employees • Build batch • Only employees with selected code will be included • Do not have to include any $ amounts • Edit in Trx Entry • VERY underutilized

  12. (9) Do a Test Year-end Close • Create wage file • Print reports • Make adjustments • Remove wage file

  13. (10) Save the Planet! • Posting a Computer Check Run can generate 16 posting reports. • Turn off those you don’t need in Posting Setup

  14. Tips 11 - 15 • Use employee classes • Use CTRL+F • Quick Links separator • Remove inactive employees • Show Details icon/Addition to salary

  17. (11) Using Employee Classes • Saves time setting up a new employee • Can default the codes in as well • Pay Code • Benefit Code • Deduction Code

  19. (13) Separate your Quick Links • Create Quick Links separators

  20. (14) Remove Inactive Employees • Warning : Reprinted 941s could be wrong • New wage file created may be wrong

  21. (15) In Addition to Salary • Makes adding extra vacation pay a breeze! • Expand the scrolling window (show details) • Mark the ‘In Addition to Salary’ checkbox

  22. (16) Extra Fields mean Extra Information! • Extra Fields button – click on Human Resources button (on EmpMaint), then click on Extra Fields button • Use it to store information like 401(k) eligibility date • Reportable on SmartLists, etc.

  23. (17) HR/Payroll Integration Messages • Stop annoying messages in HR/Payroll

  24. (18) Year end • To Void a 2010 check, user date must be in 2010 • To do 2011 payroll, you must change user date to 2011 • Do a ‘test’ close using real data, just delete the year end wage file

  26. (20) IRS TIN Matching • Service from IRS to validate TINs • Must register to use • Must supply SSN when registering
