  2. Receive Submissions • A call for Submission of Coexistence mechanisms (802.15-00/009r4) was sent out in September 2000. • Presentations are to be given • November 2000 (Tampa, FL) • January 2001 (Monterey, CA) Steve Shellhammer, Symbol Technologies

  3. Review Submissions • Task Group 2 (TG2) will review all the submissions. • The evaluation criteria will be summarized for all the proposals in an Evaluation Criteria Summary document. • TG2 may then choose to request additional information from the submitters.   4. Review Submissions • Submitters will then present the additional information to TG2. • TG2 will then incorporate that information into the Evaluation Criteria Summary. Steve Shellhammer, Symbol Technologies

  5. Hear From All TG2 Participants • Anyone attending the meetings or conference calls (not just voting members) are then free to submit their list of comments on any and all proposals. • Comment must be an official submission. • TG2 will then summarize the comments into Comment Summary for review by all members of TG2. Look For Opportunities To Combine • TG2 may then suggest that certain submitters consider combining the best of each of their proposals if it makes sense. • Any submitters may on their own choose to combine proposals. • Any new combined proposals will be presented.   7. Updated Evaluation Documents • TG2 will then update the Evaluation Criteria Summary document. • TG2 will also update the Comment Summary document. Steve Shellhammer, Symbol Technologies

Vote for Coexistence Mechanisms • Possible Coexistence Mechanisms can be partitioned into three categories • Collocated collaborative mechanisms (both WLAN and WPAN in the same unit) • Non-collocated collaborative mechanisms (WLAN and WPAN in separate units) • Non-collaborative mechanisms • We will separate the proposals into these three categories Steve Shellhammer, Symbol Technologies

Vote for Collocated Collaborative Mechanisms • TG2 will select one collocated collaborative coexistence mechanism. • Starting with N proposals • All members of TG2 vote for one proposal. • The proposal with the least number of votes is dropped. • Repeat this process until only one proposal remains Steve Shellhammer, Symbol Technologies

Vote for Collocated Collaborative Mechanisms (cont.) • Vote to approve the remaining proposal • Must pass by 75% (Technical) • If it does not pass receive comments on the no votes • Discuss how to address the no votes • Repeat voting and comment resolution until reaching at least 75% approval Steve Shellhammer, Symbol Technologies

Vote for Non-Collocated Collaborative Mechanisms • The process for selecting a non-collocated coexistence mechanism is the identical to that for selecting a collocated collaborative coexistence mechanism • Apply the process to the set of non-collocated collaborative mechanisms Steve Shellhammer, Symbol Technologies

Vote for Non-Collaborative Mechanisms • TG2 may choose one or more non-collaborative coexistence mechanism • For each proposal, each member of TG2 assigns a rating between 1 and 10. • The TG2 rating is determined by averaging all the individual ratings.   13. 3. Vote for Non-Collaborative Mechanisms (cont.) • Starting, with the proposal with the highest rating, TG2 votes to accept or reject each proposal, one proposal at a time. • To be accepted the proposal must receive at least 75% of the vote. Steve Shellhammer, Symbol Technologies

  14. 3. Vote for Non-Collaborative Mechanisms (cont.) • If none of the proposals is selected we repeat comment resolution and voting on the top two proposals until we select at least one. Steve Shellhammer, Symbol Technologies

  15. Final Result • One collocated collaborative coexistence mechanism is selected. • One non-collocated collaborative coexistence mechanism is selected. • One or more non-collaborative coexistence mechanism are selected. • The selected coexistence mechanisms will form the basis of the TG2 recommended practice.
