  2. Some spiders walk thousands of feet in the air on a silk thread Why don’t they just fly like other insects?

  3. Spiders do not have wings They are not insects

  4. Insects have 3 pairs of legs but spiders have 4 pairs A spider uses its 8 legs to learn what is happening around it and has 2 feelers

  5. Insects are omnivores and eat both plants and animals Spiders are carnivores and eat insects

  6. Some spiders spin webs to trap the insects they use as food Webs are made of silk that comes from the spider’s body

  7. A different kind of silk is used to make egg sacs The female lays eggs and wraps them in the silk sac

  8. After the eggs hatch, the young stay in the sac until they get strong

  9. Spiders live anywhere they can find food There are thousands of different kinds of spiders

  10. Some spiders are smaller than the period at the end of this sentence. But the bird-eating spider of South America has a 3-inch body and 4-inch long legs

  11. In the United States, there are a few spiders that are dangerous to people Two of these are the female black widow and the brown recluse
