  3. Daily Schedule 7:50-8:25 Writing 8:30-9:05- Gym-Monday World Language-Tuesday Music-Wednesday Art-Thursday Library-Friday 9:05-10:35 Treasures Reading A 10:25-11:00 Social Studies 11:05-11:35 Lunch 11:40- 1:10 Treasures Reading B 1:10-1:40 Social Studies 1:45-2:25 Writing B

  4. Grading System • We use the New Jersey Holistic Scoring Rubric: • Writing samples and assignments are scored from 0-5 • Open-Ended responses are scored from 0-4

  5. Homework • Study Island- Complete a targeted reading assignment by the end of the week • Treasures Reading- Daily Spelling and Grammar as well as a daily reading summary. • Missing or incomplete homework- they will use recess time to complete the assignment (they will bring home a Homework Note)

  6. Attendance • It is important to arrive at school on time as to not miss instruction which begins PROMPTLY at 7:50.

  7. Discipline • Rules are posted on the wall • These rules apply throughout the entire building…hallway, lunchroom, during specials, etc. • Students have the same consequences wherever they may break their own rules! • Uniformity of dress is a district policy

  8. Treasures Reading • Mix between whole group instruction and guided reading groups • Will meet with at least 3 groups each day • Emphasis is on phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing • Non-fiction 60% and narrative texts 40%

  9. Writing (Mechanics) • Mini Lessons • MANY STUDENT PROMPTS! • Complete Sentences • Paragraphs (3-5 sentences then work up) • 5 paragraph stories/essays • Through out the year the students will also prepare for the NJASK 4.

  10. Social Studies • Social Studies • New Jersey in the 1800’s and work up to present day • United States Geography
