  2. Point • Names an exact location in space B

  3. Line Segment • Part of a line with endpoints C D

  4. End point • The points at either end of a line segment C D

  5. Line • a straight path that continues in both directions with no end X Y

  6. Ray • Part of a line with one end point and continues in the other direction with no end R Q

  7. Plane • A flat surface that continues with out end in all directions

  8. Dimension • A measurement along a straight line of a length, height, or width of a figure

  9. One dimensional • A measure with only one direction such as length

  10. Two dimensional • A measure with 2 dimensions, such as, height and width

  11. Angle • Two lines or rays that share an endpoint

  12. vertex • The shared endpoint of two lines or rays

  13. degree • The unit used to measure angles 90 degrees

  14. Acute angle • An angle less than 90 degrees

  15. Right angle • A 90 degree angle

  16. Obtuse angle • An angle more than 90 degrees

  17. Intersecting lines • Lines that cross each other

  18. Parallel lines • Lines that never intersect and are the same distance apart

  19. Perpendicular lines • Lines that intersect at 90 degree angles

  20. dimension • A measurement along the straight line of a length, height or width of a figure

  21. One dimensional • A measure with only one direction such as length

  22. Two dimensional • A measure with 2 dimensions, such as, height and width

  23. Three dimensional • A measure with three dimensions, such as, height, width, and length

  24. clockwise Moving in a circular path to the right – like the hands on a clock

  25. Counterclockwise • Moving in a circular path to the left – opposite from a clock

  26. diagonal • A line that has a slope or angle

  27. horizontal • A flat line like the horizon, which is left to right

  28. Line of symmetry • A line that divides a figure in half so that the 2 halves can be folded on top of each other

  29. reflection • the movement of a figure to a new position by flipping the figure over

  30. rotation • The movement of a figure by rotating the figure around a point

  31. transformation • any movement of a figure (could be a translation, rotation or reflection)

  32. translation • Moves a figure to a new position by sliding it

  33. symmetry • Any shape that has symmetry has at least one line of symmetry

  34. vertical • A line that goes straight up and down

  35. face • Flat side of a figure

  36. edge • Where two faces meet on a 3-D figure

  37. Vertex (vertices) • Where three or more edges meet on a 3-D figure

  38. sphere
