  2. My RYLA Background • Camper in 1999 • Junior Facilitator in 2001 • Facilitator until present. • More of administrative role in future?

What is RYLA? • A leadership camp that empowers youth to become leaders. • Families- • Builds support system. • Breakout learning & discussion group. • Poster, skit, cheer, and ropes course • Committees- • Allow campers to run the camp (ex: speakers) • Speakers • Activities • Socialization/Recreation It’s about the process, not the outcome!

  4. It’s not just another leadership camp… • Camper’s comments on facebook… • “I miss everyone so much! RYLA was such a life-changing and memorable experience.” • “This camp has impacted us all and we will all grow from this great experience. We have made lifelong friends and have hopefully learned more about ourselves and others. These things will make us the better leaders of tomorrow.”

  5. A “Transformative Learning Experience” • Impacts students “affective” domain rather than “cognitive” domain. • How does RYLA do this?

  6. The core elements to RYLA. • 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens • Four Way Test- ethics • Myers-Briggs- personality indicator. • Bafa-Bafa- understanding cultures. • Fine Dining • Ropes Course • FISH • Service Above Self- Random Act Kindness**

  7. RYLA strengthens Rotary’s future! • Bridges young adults with adults. • Exposed to a Rotary Meeting & Rotary Ideas. • RYLA needs you! • Influenced start of new Interact & Roteract Clubs.
