Roadmap • ASREN is developing a roadmap to further extend the e-Infrastructures deployed by EUMEDCONNECT and EUMEDGRID to all Arab countries • A focal activity will be Africa & Arabia  ROC for the coordination and support point for all sites in the region Final Review - Brussels 17 February 2012

Joint outreach • EUMEDGRID-Support fostered the establishment of ASREN since 2010 (Brussels in March and Cairo in December) and continued in 2011 • June 2011 – First Workshop in Lebanon at the Saint Joseph University • October 2011 - Workshop for Developing Lebanese National Research and Education Network at the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in Beirut, Lebanon • November/December 2011 - Joint CHAIN/EPIKH Schools for ROC management and application integration in Science Gateways in Amman, Jordan • December 2011 – e-AGE 2011 Conference in Amman, Jordan Final Review - Brussels 17 February 2012

Future plans – e-Infrastructure • UAE installed a new highly sophisticated grid system that will join Africa & Arabia ROC • Consolidation of cooperation between grids in the ASREN region and beyond through CHAIN, embedded within ASREN • Plans for a consortium as a result of e-AGE to establish connectivity between neighboring countries in the Arab region Final Review - Brussels 17 February 2012

Future plans – Community level • More contacts to existing VRCs, e.g.: • Genomics applications • Mathematical modelling, with intensive numerical analysis • Emerging applications in software applications to environmental resources • Consolidating communities from EPIKH schools in Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Jordan, and the modelling grid applications in Lebanon • Activities for federated identity and science gateway and building capacity through joint research projects – initial interest at UAE • School planned for GATE users in Algeria in April using EUMEDGRID Science Gateway • Upcoming e-AGE towards better integration of efforts at the regional level Final Review - Brussels 17 February 2012
