  2. Introduction.Family values are political and social beliefs that hold the nuclear family to be the essential ethical and moral unit of society. In today’ s world we need to have some family values that we have to teach these values to our children.

  3. Connections between the cultures.. • Communication • Love & Respect • Forgiveness & Honesty • Flexibility • Education

  4. Familyvalues. Communication. Love and respect. Sharing. Understandingsensitivity Empathy.

  5. Communication • Importance placed on developing communication skills • Good communication skills provide a strong base for healthy relationships • Miscommunication can be detrimental to family dynamics

  6. Love & Respect • “family cohesion” • Establish a sense of belonging in a nurturing environment • Underlying message of understanding, sympathy, and empathy

  7. Honesty & Forgiveness • Honesty (as well as communication) provides a strong base for healthy relationships • Allows an individual to develop a sense of credibility and thus respected • Forgiveness allows one to unburden themselves of negative energy

  8. Flexibility • Flexibility is equally as important within a family as structure • Strive for a balance of the two • The family working as a whole to problem solve can make stressful situations less chaotic

  9. Education • Regarded as key to opportunity in both cultures • Provides children with choices (or freedom) and the ability to develop a work ethic outside the home
