  1. Can you improve this for a chance to win £100? ENTRIES TO THE BUSINESS DEPARTMENT BY: Wednesday 10/10/12 Can you improve this for a chance to win £100? The Royal Fish Bar is looking for a poster which will increase awareness and sales. The following outlines have been decided upon by the client, so please consider them carefully when designing your solutions. This should not prevent creative ideas! 1. Promoting the Royal Fish Bar in general 2. Appealing to families e.g. free toy with orders over £20 3. Half Price Kebab: with interchangeable dates 4. Reference to contributing to society i.e. community fish and chip shop

  2. The Brief • Outside the Royal Fish Bar there is an advertising board (1800mm x 1200mm) positioned to be visible to all oncoming traffic and any passers by. The project is to design and print a new poster with the primary aim being to increase business at the Royal Fish Bar. This is a real project which will have an impact on a local business. It is paid work.

  3. What you need to produce • A design produced electronically for the poster • A one page explanation of the poster and how it will achieve the desired outcome • A quote for printing costs for the poster (at given size and quality) • If selected you will print and deliver the poster to the Royal Fish Bar

  4. Guidance • Understand the business – What type of business is it? What is the average spend of a customer? What proportion of their custom is from repeat business? • Customers – Who are the different types of people that will spend money at the Royal Fish Bar, and what makes them buy their food there • Go and look at the space where the poster will be displayed – what are the strengths and weaknesses of the location? • What is the local competition like near the shop? • What is the current poster up like – do you think it is good? • Decide who you will target with your poster – who is most likely to see it? • What do you think will make them want to eat at the shop? • What do you want to show on the poster – eg it could be a special deal and why? • There are two main tasks now – one is to design the poster based on all the information you have gathered from the activities above, the other is to research and find a quote for the printing of the poster • When the poster has been designed you can write your one-pager explaining the idea and why you think it is good. You should use all the work done on previous activities to make this easier
