The partnerships are: TransCanada Keystone Pipeline, LP (U.S.) and TransCanada Keystone Pipeline Limited Partnership (Canada). Affiliates of TransCanada will design, construct and operate the pipelines. Keystone will be operated as one integrated pipeline system. The 2,148-mile Keystone Pipeline will transport crude oil from Alberta, Canada, to U.S. Midwest markets at Wood River and Patoka, Illinois and to Cushing, Oklahoma. The U.S. portion of the project includes construction of approximately 1,379 miles of pipeline and pump stations. The Keystone Pipeline will have an initial nominal capacity of 435,000 barrels per day in late 2009 and will be expanded to a nominal capacity of 590,000 barrels per day in late 2010. TransCanada has developed a detailed Emergency Management System (EMS). We train our staff to know our systems and exactly what to do if an emergency occurs.As part of our Public Awareness Program, we regularly inform local first responders and community officials of what they can expect from us and how to jointly co-ordinate a response. We provide information and direction to safely respond to a pipeline emergency.
