  1. West Boundary Keeps Growing • This is our third year of our food growing program!

  2. In year one – we installed a germination table and grew vegetables in the spring.

  3. In year two – we installed a window growing shelf and grew herbs in the fall and vegetables in the spring.

  4. This year – we set up an outdoor greenhouse and set up a worm bin composter.

  5. Who are we? • Our Green Team is made up of students from Kindergarten to Grade 7, a teacher volunteer, and a member from the local agricultural society. They meet weekly to work on this food growing project.

  6. What do we do each week? • -plant seeds on trays and put them on the germination table • -water and learn to care for the plants • -watch for seeds sprouting • -transplant small plants from the trays into larger pots and move them onto the greenhouse shelf. When the weather warms up, they’ll go into the outdoor greenhouse. • -learn about the plants and ways to use them • -use worm juice from the compost bin to fertilize the plants and learn other organic and sustainable ways to garden • -plan who will take the plants to the local farmer’s market to sell to raise more funds to continue this growing project!

  7. What do we want to do in the future? • We have plans to create a fenced outdoor garden and a compost bin for students to use during the school year and for community members to help us maintain over the summer months.

  8. Please vote for us to help us continue and expand this program in the future!
